...from across the room in math class sophmore year, when the substitute teacher wasn't looking. Because the class clown just had this way of making her come out of her shell. Ron caught it in his mouth and there was a sudden uproar of applause in the back row. Surely, it was a sign. They were meant to be. Then, Sara had to go sit in the hallway for disrupting the class. But, it was worth it. She couldn't stop smiling. That's how it all began!
He was such a jerk. She was a snob. At least that's what they told their friends. And, to make matters worse, their best friends lived IN THE SAME HOUSE. Ugh. It was a nightmare. Sara was best friends with Jackie whose brother, Chris, was best friends with Ron. This meant many chance encounters were bound to happen at the Hansen household during those elementary and middle school days. And, every time the girls would try to watch a movie in the basement or talk about their crushes or play "life," the boys would come rushing in determined to annoy them enough to take over the space. (The basement was a prime hang out spot.) And, so it was for years. Everyone knew Ron and Sara couldn't stand each other. Couldn't even stand the thought of standing each other... Until one day, in high school, they both kinda started to think the other wasn't so bad after all. More than not-so-bad. Great, actually -- cute, friendly, fun to be around. And then, as life would have it, everything changed.
Everything changes in time, they say. Sara and Ron both outgrew who they were in high school, or so they thought, and they parted ways while Sara was at MSU. There were lessons to be learned, in hindsight, and they had to learn them apart so they would be older, and wiser, and all that, when they came back together. They both knew, deep in their hearts, they would.
As fate would have it, by nothing short of divine intervention, after all those lessons (and then some) were learned, Ron and Sara reunited. They realized they were true soulmates, walking the same paths almost in step with one another for all those years, until they met again. They were able to support each other because of the similar roads they had taken, the experiences they thought they were enduring alone but never were, and they picked up the rest of the pieces together, growing stronger than ever before. After all, their hearts had told them so, and for the first time in a very, very long time, all was as it should be. They met at Papa's in Armada for a "first date" lunch, and vowed to never again let go.
On October 3, 2020, Ron and Sara will renew a promise they made to each other over two decades ago when they carved it into a tree up north, "Ron & Sara 4Ever." Their love never died, never could die, no matter what. Through time and space, and every obstacle in between, their hearts found each other again. And, they quickly remembered what they would always say to each other in high school: "Love you mostest, infinity and a day, no tagbacks." Now begins our infinity and a day. Can't wait to celebrate with you!
