Sara and her best friend, Elana Scharff, were on their way home from a Blazer game when Elana suggested they stop by the Wilshire Tavern to see if any of the "NEP homies" were there. Sure enough, they were! Pat and Sara had their first conversation, and it was seamless! Pat asked for Sara's number, and took her out the next week. Little did they know, it would be the last first date either of them would ever have!
Pat and Sara were supposed to spend the night at McMenamin's Edgefield for Pat's birthday, where he was planning to propose that night. Coronavirus changed that plan. Instead, Pat and Sara spent his birthday, just the two of them (and Gus), at home in Portland. The nearby Rose City golf course was closed to the public, so Pat suggested they walk over there and hit a few balls while they would have the place to themselves. Pat had other plans though...They had been hanging at the golf course for about half an hour, so Sara had no idea that her life was about to change forever. Pat found his perfect moment when Sara turned around to tie her shoe on a bench. When Sara turned back around, Pat was down on one knee.
