We're Getting Married

Michael and I meet through mutual friends who "secretly" tried to set us up at an Orlando Magic game. As most of you know, the "secret" date didn't work. Michael figured out the set up quickly and barely talked to me all night. We ended up being at the same function a few weeks later and Michael and I got to know each other better and the rest is history!

Since Mike and I enjoy spending time at the beach, we went to the beach often. Mike decided that he would propose when we were walking on the beach, prior to going to dinner. Unfortunately, Hurricane Irma had other plans and Mike went back to the drawing board.

After Hurricane Irma spoiled Mike's proposal attempt, he decided to propose in another place that was special to the both of us, Clemson University in South Carolina! I was anticipating the proposal would occur on a trip to New York City but Mike had another idea to ensure it was a surprise. The night before Mike proposed we went to a grocery store to stock up on tailgating food and beverages. As we parked, Mike was telling his mother (who had the engagement ring) to leave her purse in the trunk of the car since it wasn't the nicest area. This conversation continued for approximately 5 minutes with Mike and his parents discussing locking the purse in the trunk. As I sat in the backseat, I was contemplating why no one was telling me to leave my purse in the car. The next day Mike and I went to the South Carolina Botanical Gardens. Mike and I walked through the gardens and he kept pushing for us to continue walking. We walked to a historic log cabin that the original owner built for his wife. We sat on a bench overlooking the house and stream but I wanted to take a picture of the scenery. I stood up to take the picture and when I turned around Mike was down on one knee asking me to marry him. Obviously, I said yes and after 8 years together we are FINALLY getting married!
