Well... Max likes to start this story with “I got hit by a car.”... Sara, the voice of reason and equipped with a moral compass that blares “don’t scare the people,” admits that our first encounter was in the physical therapy clinic. Our mutual respect for each others’ dedication to the program and the value that our individual contributions are the foundation of where we saw we could commit on a mutual level to each other’s health, wellness and success in life. 3 years later- here we are- doing the same thing on a much more personal level!
The scene: Ironman 70.3 Costa Rica The conversation: Sara: "We May not make it to the finish line"... we were only one mile into the run portion of the race when we started on/off walking... "it’s so hot!" Max: “C’mon babe just one foot in front of the other” (internal thoughts: sure as hell we are getting there!!! I’ve been carrying this ring in my pocket the whole time!!!) Crossing the finish line, Max tries to present a sentimental thought and then stops Sara in front of the finish line cameras. Sara's Response: (with deer in the headlights look of emotional ups and downs while being exhausted from the race) “OMG are you kidding??" (hands on head in shock...) "YES!!!!” Course announcer’s microphone shout-out: “Ella dice que si! Now that’s IRON love!” Max relieved and happy :) Sara taken from floor to floating on cloud 9 :) ... then 7 days of pina coladas on the beach... you can't beat it.
