We are truly a "modern romance" couple. We said "Hi" on a Wednesday and by Friday we were planning to meet. I (being the homebody I am) called my mom Friday afternoon to tell her I didn't want to go. My mom's response "Get out of that damn apartment and at least you might meet a new friend!". Sara, called her Uncle Brent to see if he could recommend a restaurant close to my apartment. We met at Smee's. The moment I saw Sara walk across the parking lot, I knew she was a game changer. We sat at Smee's for a few hours chatting over beer and mac & cheese. By the time the pushy waitress handed us our bill. I told Sara I wasn't ready for the date to be over. She, of course, recommended her favorite restaurant, Buffalo Wild Wings. We shut the place down and the rest is history.
We both knew from early on that this was going to last forever. I am a compulsive “googler” so when Sara said she really liked the look of a wooden ring, I knew I had the hard part done. I ordered Sara’s ring in March and it was scheduled to arrive in July. Sara’s mom and sister were also planning family photos to exact year to the date that we met. I just knew that a proposal would be perfect with all of her family there as well. I emailed the photographer to let him know my plan and everything was ready to go. The week before, I started getting really nervous. I had written down everything I wanted to say and practiced it over and over. When the photographer singled us out to get photos of just her and I, I tried to tell her everything that I had practiced for months. All that came out was “you are my best friend, please marry me”, and as everyone knows the phrase….. “A picture is worth a thousand words”.
