On a crisp fall day in 2013, John Michael approached Sara in the University of Colorado Law School's library (for those in the know, by the printers). He remembered meeting Sara weeks before at the Dark Horse. Sara maybe kinda sorta did not remember him (whoops!). Everything was about to change. Like a total sweetheart, John Michael often greeted Sara in the halls of the law school and took his best shot at flirting. Sara, a terrified 1L, always on the verge of tears, greeted him back and buried her head back into her books. Heading into Halloween, John Michael finally got up the courage to ask Sara out. They grabbed coffee and bagels at The Cup on Pearl Street. Let's just say that one of them was a little irked that the other one insisted on buying her bagel. Although they had a nice conversation, sprinkled with some giggles, they did not have an instant connection. Nevertheless, he persisted. A few weeks later, John Michael asked Sara out on another date, and she suggested a hike in Chautauqua. He agreed. On the hike, Sara realized that her elevated heart rate was not entirely connected to the elevation gain but to John Michael. Sara started to like this John Michael guy, who never stopped talking, laughing, and smiling as he tripped down the mountain with his weak ankles. Sara was sold on this cute, endearing, goofy boy. From that point forward, Sara and John Michael continued to grow closer to one another until John Michael made his biggest move yet--shared his outlines with Sara. It was then that the two realized that they could spend countless hours together without either boredom or annoyance--and it wasn't just because they were studying during those hours. Together they laughed, snowboarded (at least Sara did), watched movies, read books, basked in the Boca sun, traveled the world (at least to Canada), and, most importantly, fell in love with one another.
