We're getting married!

Sara and I met while working at the Lackey Free Clinic in Yorktown Virginia. I had started a volunteer position as a medical scribe, where I would type and document patient charts. Sara was my supervisor at the time, although I had not yet met her. On one of my first shifts in the clinic, I was working with Dr. Purdy seeing some family medicine follow up patients. Unknown to me at the time, Dr. Purdy is Sara's mother who had been volunterring at the clinic for several years. Between patients, while sitting in the doctors break room with Dr. Purdy, I first met Sara. She was working for another provider that day and had gone to the break room while her doctor had gone to answer a phone call. Happy to meet another scribe at the clinic, I had started to talk to Sara asking her where she was from and talking about about the process of applying to medical school. I quickly realized she was very genuine person with a humble insight on her future plans in medicine. With Dr. Purdy sitting off to my side, I talked with Sara about college, medical school and future plans. Towards the end of our conversation, I had asked Sara for her phone number so I could text her later about medical school applications. With Sara's number safely in my phone, I told her I looked forward to talking to her again in the near future. Around that time, a nurse came into the breakroom and said "Hi Sara, Hi Dr. Purdy. It must be nice getting to drive to work with your daughter today." I turned a bright red color with Dr. Purdy giving out a small laugh knowing I had just asked her daughter for her phone number in front of her. Well, mild embarrassment aside, it looks like it all worked out.
