How We Met

12/1/2017 Love at First Swipe

We first met at a speakeasy in Costa Mesa, CA after swiping right on each other's Tinder Profiles. Both of us didn't think much of the date prior to, exhausted from dead-end dates and shallow conversations. Sara contemplated canceling all together after she got stuck waiting for the longest train EVER that caused her to be 20 minutes late, but had a gut feeling she should still go. She took it as a sign that this random Tinder guy must be something special. Luckily Dom kept himself busy sampling a few new beers and had no problem waiting for Sara to arrive (Foreshadowing of always waiting for Sara to get ready). We quickly cut the BS conversation and addressed the three forbidden first date topics FAMILY, RELIGION, AND POLITICS. We ended the night dancing the night away to country music at Old Crow.

The Proposal

5/30/2020

Somehow, someway, we were able to turn the shit-show that was 2020 into something great. Before the pandemic hit we were planning to take the jump and move our lives across the country to Nashville, TN. However, when the pandemic hit our plans of things to do before the big move was cut short. What Sara was not privy to was that Dom was in the process of designing her a ring and was planning to propose before we moved, and was not going to let the pandemic get in the way. One of the biggest disappointments of the pandemic was that we would not be able to make our annual trip to Paso Robles to go wine tasting. Our first trip together was to Paso Robles only a few months into dating. The area quickly stole our hearts and turned into one of our favorite places to visit, visiting SLO along the way where Dom went to College. The state started opening up in May, including our favorite Winery in Paso Robles. Dom decided this would be the perfect place to propose to Sara. He began planning with their friends to orchestrate a couples trip; road tripping up the coast on his motorcycle for a wine tasting weekend. The day began gloomily as the wind whipped rain diagonally into everyone's faces as we walked up to Grey Wolf Winery. By some miracle, there was a break in the rain and the sun peeked out from behind the clouds; Dom and his group of accomplices decided it was a great idea to take couples pictures beside the vineyard. We were the last couple to take our pictures, Sara looked out and saw all their friends with their phones out thinking it was odd they were all taking photos, and when she turned back to look at Dom he was down on one knee.... and now we are here and can't wait to celebrate the beginning of our lives together with YOU!
