We met at a classmate's party and didn't think much of it. Then a bunch of us went to karaoke after a long day of back-to-back classes and we both picked, "I’d Do Anything for Love." And it just clicked. He went low, I went high. There were fist pumps. We harmonized by accident. That’s pretty much when we thought, "Okay. This could be something."
With Sara’s oddly observant personality, flawlessly landing this surprise proposal was no easy task — and by “no easy task,” I mean nearly impossible. It was a full team effort to mask the proposal with an annual friends beach trip, a Fourth of July celebration and even a random (but not so random) photoshoot at a special, private location on the beach. What Sara didn’t know (or did know, I can’t even tell at this point) was that both of our immediate families had made the trip down and were there ready to celebrate the special, life-changing moment with close friends. What did did we learn? Well, Sara needs to pay less attention, Hanna and I aren’t great liars, Mitchell cries way more than the average male and Jake shouldn’t ever be asked to hold another engagement ring while getting off a boat. All-in-all, it couldn’t have turned out any better: friends, family, the perfect beach day and she said "yes!" We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Santa Rosa!
