Clayton and Sara’s story began freshman year of high school at Homeland Grocery in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Clayton had been working there for about a month when Sara started, and soon after, they found themselves facing shelves together after school. What started as just another after-school job quickly became the best part of their days. Four-hour shifts flew by as they talked the entire time, laughed, and got to know each other better. They took their breaks together, quietly at first, keeping it their little secret (for a while!). Eventually, management caught on and started scheduling them together anyway. After work, Chick-fil-A dates became a regular tradition and one of their favorite ways to end the day. A few years later, when Sara had to leave Homeland to head off to college, Clayton quit on the very same day. Despite long distance and three-hour drives every weekend, they never stopped choosing each other. Four and a half years of college later, that high school grocery store love story has led them here, ready to say “I do” and start their forever together.
