Our Story

Love will travel as far as you let it.

Our story is not like most. We met in 2016 while attending Central Michigan University. Our first date was mini-golf, which we try to do an annual mini-golf date to reminisce and to have contests (I usually win). We started dating and halfway into our senior year, Carter moves to Erie, Pennsylvania for four months. Little did we know that would not be the end of our long-distance relationship. Following our graduation in 2018, I moved to St. Louis, Missouri for two years pursuing my master's degree while he stayed in Michigan to save for our future. Fast forward two years, we are now together in the same state!

Was it love at first sight?

You will find the one when you least expect it.

We met at a bar, so I would not say it was love at first sight, but after our next time meeting, I knew something was special about him. I felt like I knew him for years and he was so easy to talk to. Usually, I am really shy at first and do not speak much, but with him, I talked A LOT. Ever since that day, I could not get him out of my head and I knew he was the one. He is my best friend and supports me in every way possible. I cannot wait to call him my hubby!

Was it love at first sight?

Loving every minute of it.

Yes, it was. I knew as soon as I saw her that she would be someone special and I could not get enough of her. I was obsessed after our first date and was always trying to get her to come hangout anyway I could. We clicked so easily and were comfortable with each other instantly. I knew she was the one after only a few months of dating because she was the best thing that ever happened to me and made me happier than I had ever been. Every day I only thought about her, missed her whenever she was gone, and so excited when I got to see her. She gets me and I could not ask more from her.

The Proposal

First comes school, then comes marriage...

Once Carter and I started talking about marriage, my one rule was I had to finish school before we got married. So I was caught totally by surprise when he popped the question on our 2020 spring break trip to Aruba in March since I still had five months left. We were with his family and on our walk down the beach to dinner, everyone wanted pictures in front of the sunset. Carter and I were being photographed first, so we smiled for the pictures and I felt like we were standing there for a while so I started to leave the area to let someone else go. Of course, I almost ruined the moment! Everyone told me to go back and take one more picture, so when I turned around Carter was down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so happy and had a huge smile across my face for the rest of the night. I could not believe it!
