The Proposal

June 3, 2019

In June of 2019, Brendan and I traveled to Montana for vacation. Montana holds many great memories for Brendan as he and his family spent a lot of time there in his youth. He shared many of his favorite activities such as hiking to Montana State University “M” to enjoy the mountains. One day we had planned a happy hour by a favorite creek with Brendan’s family. It was unusually warm that day for Montana, but Brendan insisted on us “dressing up”. While we were enjoying this peaceful time, Brendan asked me to go with him to get something from the car. Why did I have to go? “Just because”, he said. I finally agreed to go and as we walked, he stopped, turned me to him, and GOT DOWN ON ONE KNEE! He asked me to marry him, and I excitedly said YES! I began to FaceTime friends and family when the next surprise comes! Brendan had hired a helicopter to take us to dinner. He points to the sky and sure enough, there was a helicopter approaching. We get in and fly along the mountain ridgeline where we hiked the previous day. It was incredible! We saw the snowcapped mountains, the MSU stadium, and many animals! Not done yet, Brendan had one more surprise. Most every day of the last three years Brendan left me a sticky note each morning telling me things such as have a good day at work, a motivational message, what our work out will be later, or simply that he loved me. At dinner, he handed me a book with about 20 of these notes. I never put it together, but all along Brendan had secretly been telling me how he was going to propose on these sticky notes, and they were dated. On one he had drawn me a picture of us on a helicopter and another one was just a block “M” colored in. Some of the notes were silly, some were serious, but the last sticky note was written “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you” dated 6/3/19. I could not have dreamed of a more perfect day and I cannot wait to say “I do!”
