Being two wanderers far from home, one from Indiana and the other from Wisconsin, it’s hard to call our meeting anything other than fate. If it wasn’t for the pull of duty for one, companionship for the other, and a desire to be your own for both, we may have never found our way to Oklahoma. And if it wasn’t for the times we live in, the ability to reach farther than ever through technology, we may have never met and we may have never seen the reflection of ourselves in each other. After deciding that we weren’t going to find what we needed through traditional searching, we turned to dating apps. In seemingly no time at all, we were matched. And after some light texting, the plan was set to meet in person at Jenny’s Sweet Box. Although the conversation was pleasant, the weather turned to anything but. Our first meeting would have to be called short as the deluge stormed in. Plans were made soon after to try again; this time at Kung Fu Tea. If our first meeting was planting the seed, then our second would be the water and sun needed to fully bloom. It’s funny how hours can pass in an instant with the right company. We talked and talked, opening our hearts to each other one topic at a time. It was here when we really saw each other for the first time. We saw the compassion, the love, the conviction, the heart; it was all out for us to share in. It was strange in a pleasant way how familiar it all felt. It’s not a feeling many will have the pleasure of experiencing; the realization that you’ve found your compliment and every word feels like a warm memory. Though the day had to end, this was only the beginning. Many weeks passed of growing closer before the inevitable couldn’t be denied. We knew our futures were meant to be one. And come October 4th, our lives as one will be ready to flourish.
