There is parking at the Barn on Walnut Hill, but parking space is limited. We have rented two buses to transport guests to and from downtown Portland, so we strongly recommend parking in Portland and taking the bus or carpooling to the venue. The information for bus transportation is as follows: The buses will be picking guests up at the Back Cove Trail Parking Lot in Portland (https://goo.gl/maps/qKy6r6XHtyrHMWih9). Both buses will depart the parking lot for the venue at 3:15 PM, so guests should arrive at the parking lot by 3:00 PM. The buses will arrive at the venue at 3:45 PM. The buses will be departing from the venue and returning to the Back Cove Trail Parking Lot at 9:00 PM and 10:55 PM. If guests need to be transported back to Portland at other times, the buses are on call to make additional trips.
If you are staying in downtown Portland, you will not need a car. We will have two buses transporting guests from downtown Portland to the wedding venue and back on the day of the wedding, and you do not need a car to get around Portland itself. If you are staying outside of Portland, it would be helpful to rent a car.
You have two options. (1) You can fly into Portland. We have a nice smaller airport that is very easy to get to, but sometimes it can be more expensive. (2) Another great option is flying into Boston's Logan Airport. The airport is 1.5 hours from Portland and there are buses and trains that go to and from Boston and Portland all day, everyday. We have found the Concord Bus Line to be the easiest way to get back and forth from the Boston Airport.
If your invitation says "and guest" you are welcome to bring a date. If not we prefer it be just you.
Semi-formal or cocktail style. Most of our wedding day will be taking place outdoors or in the barn, so keep that in mind when choosing footwear. Also, note that summer evenings in Maine can get chilly, so you will likely want a long-sleeved layer for the reception.
