After three failed scheduling attempts Ellie finally decided to give Saquib a chance. They met up for ice cream at Morgenstern's where Ellie insisted upon sampling every flavour under the sun, contemplating the merits of each one. Meanwhile, Saquib went ahead and ordered his favourite (Vietnamese Iced Coffee). Saquib's hands got super sticky after his cone, and the napkins weren't cutting it. Ellie whipped out her water bottle and rinsed his hands off on the edge of the sidewalk outside the ice cream shop, a moment which Saquib recalls was the exact moment he fell for Ellie. They walked through the city, neither really wanting the date to end, until they arrived at Lovers of Today, where they talked until it got late. Pretty soon after parting ways, they made plans to meet up again. The rest, as they say, is history.
After taking a sunrise hot air balloon safari ride, Saquib and Ellie headed to a brunch in the bush in Masai Mara, Kenya. Nervously trying to build up his courage, Saquib took Ellie to a secluded area where they could be alone with nature. Getting down on one knee he started to pull out the ring. Ellie knew what was going to happen however she didn't expect him to take his phone out too. Saquib had loaded up an image of him holding up a post it note with the words "will you marry me". In the background was Ellie, asleep and surrounded by moving boxes from when they had moved in together a year after their first date. He kept that image hidden for quite some time, well before they started mentioning the "m" word.
