Most importantly, there is no parking at the wedding venue. We will be providing a shuttle service to take guests to and from the venue. The shuttle will depart from 145 Fore St, Portland (outside the Residence Inn) at 2:30pm sharp. There will be two shuttles departing the reception and returning to the Residence Inn, one at 9:00pm and one at 10:00pm Second, our venue is a bit non-traditional and we have limited seating. As a result, both the ceremony and reception will not have assigned seats. We will have a few seats reserved for the wedding party and guests that require seating accommodations. However, we encourage everyone to get cozy, meet your neighbor, and help us celebrate this special day. Finally, Maine weather can be highly variable in September, especially on the ocean. We encourage guests to bring a warm layer and also strongly advise against wearing pointed heels due to sloped terrain and cobblestones at the venue.
Lauren and Will met as members of the Dartmouth Cross Country and Track & Field teams, and started dating in the fall of 2017, at the beginning of Lauren’s sophomore year and Will’s senior year. However, they first became friends the previous spring when they would often sit together on bus rides back from track meets. As Lauren remembers it, on the way back from one of those meets, Will asked her to go to a water park. She was surprised, because where in New England are there outdoor water parks that are open in April? But she agreed, only to realize later on that it was in fact Will’s fraternity’s semi-formal event. They had a great time, and Will asked her to go to his formal a few weeks later. While the sparks were maybe forming, they remained just friends at that point. Fast forward to preseason of the next school year, and the sparks started again, but more obvious this time. The day before classes started, Will asked Lauren on a date to Woodstock, Vermont where they spent the day swimming in the river, walking around the idyllic town, and picnicking in the town square. After a great school year together, Will headed to D.C. to start his job and Lauren returned to Dartmouth, starting 3 years of long distance while Lauren finished her undergrad degree and then her masters at Notre Dame. They continued to visit and support each other from afar, before eventually moving to New York City together in the summer of 2021. They love the life they've built since settling down on the Upper West Side - spending time with friends, running in Central Park, exploring local coffee shops, dog-watching (and maybe some people-watching too), eating great food, and enjoying all that New York City has to offer.
