Question

How do we obtain COVID-19 testing before flying back to the US? What happens if we test positive for COVID-19?

Answer

All new and existing reservations of 3 or more nights whose flight itinerary include the US as a stopover or final destination and traveling between January 26 and December 31, 2021 or until the government mandate is lifted will receive 2 free antigen tests per room. Additional tests can be purchased for $ 50 USD. The antigen test meets CDC requirements and must be done within 3 days of your flight back to the US. All guests with existing and new reservations of 3 or more nights checking out between January 26 and December 31, 2021 who test positive for COVID-19 will be able to quarantine at the hotel for up to 14 nights at no cost to them. Additionally, onsite medical assistance insurance will be included in their stay to cover medical expenses such as doctor, medication, and hospitalization.** **Onsite medical assistance provided by a third party company, and does not include coverage for cancellations.

How much can I expect to spend?

As of May 2021, here are the most updated rates you can expect for transportation and lodging for a family or group of 4 (2 adults and 2 teens or 4 adult friends). Flights (arriving in Cancun 11/19 and departing 11/22): From DC, flights are currently $350. From NYC, flights are currently $306. From Delhi, flights are currently $1491. Lodging at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya (arriving in Cancun 11/19 and departing 11/22): Deluxe Gold 2 Bed at Hacienda side --> First calculate the nightly rate at $363 per night for the first 2 guests + $310 ($155/per extra adult) for the next 2 guests = $673 per night for all four guests. Multiply this rate times the number of nights in the stay for a total lodging cost of $2,019, or $504 per person for 4 days and 3 nights. Flight + Lodging Per Person: For a person traveling from NYC in a group of 4, they can expect to spend around $810 ($504 for the room and $306 for the flight).

What are the visa and/or passport requirements for Mexico?

Answer

Travel to Mexico requires valid passports, even for US Citizens. Please ensure that your passport expires after 6 months from the date of entry into Mexico. Mexico has no visa requirement for US, Canada, UK, and Australian Citizens, but you will be asked to fill out a FMM form (Mexico's visitor permit) on the plane or once you land. Once you get to immigration and customs at Cancún airport, the agents will give you the bottom half to retain until you leave the country. It is VERY important to keep this secure until you leave Mexico. Indian Citizens will need to obtain a tourist visa unless they have a valid US Visa or are permanent residents of Canada, UK, or Japan. Is there transportation available between the airport and the resort?

What time is check-in and check-out at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya?

Answer

Check-in time is at 3pm and check-out time is at 12pm. Reservations made through Shaadi Destinations will be given priority on early check-in times as we will make requests directly with resort management. Early check-in is not guaranteed, but the resort will do their best. Guests are welcome to stay on property all day the day of check-in and check-out. Bags will be stored with your butler staff when you don't have access to your room.

Can I stay for just 2 nights?

Answer

While most destination wedding guests choose to stay 5-6 nights when flying to Mexico, we understand there may be certain limiting factors. Unfortunately, group discounts are only valid on a minimum of 3 night stays. If you must stay 2 nights, please contact us at hello@shaadidestinations.com so we can find the best rates possible for you. Are kids welcome?

We chose Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya because of the endless list of activities that will turn us all to children - so children are encouraged! Can we stay at a different resort in Cancun and still attend wedding events?

Answer

If guests choose to stay elsewhere, they will need to pay a day pass and/or night pass to enter which can get very pricey (plus the cost of transfers between resorts). The cost for a day pass can typically be $125-150 per person per day. In addition, if a wedding guest books outside the group or at another resort, there is also an event fee to cover the costs (like food / beverage / service) of $100 / person / event charged to the Bride and Groom.
