In August of 2021, we matched on the dating site, Bumble. It took us a couple of weeks to go on our first date because Danté was in the process of moving apartments, and I had recently been promoted to a management position, which required me to be on call. For our first date, Danté picked me up at my apartment, and we had dinner at Applebee's. Should I have allowed a stranger to pick me up in his vehicle? No, but I'm glad I did in this case. Unfortunately, our date got cut short when I got called into work, but thankfully, Danté wasn't put off by that, and we went on another date a couple of days later.

On May 9th, 2024, Danté and I were headed up to Petit Jean Mountain to do a couple of hikes. I didn't know this at the time, but Danté was planning to propose at the overlook on the Cedar Creek trail. However, his plan went awry when I wanted to hike Cedar Falls to see the waterfall. He knew I wanted a private proposal, and the waterfall was packed with a school trip, so he suggested we go to the Bear Caves trail. During the second hike, I started to notice him being more antsy and "all over the place" when people kept hiking past us, so I suggested we go to Cedar Creek like he wanted and walk to the end of the trail since it's a loop. At this point, I had a sneaking suspicion a proposal was happening, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. We were standing at the overlook, and I started texting videos of the waterfall from earlier to his mom. It was then that I heard him call my name. I turned around, and there he was on one knee. I immediately started crying, which made him cry. It was private, beautiful, and overall perfect.
