The bride and groom met when both of them were on the cheerleading squad at UW-Whitewater. The bride noticed the groom when he walked into practice wearing his work boots and Carhartt jacket. He noticed her when she collided heads in a stunt and cut her eyelid open. His exact words were, "she took that like a champ!". He had to ask her a few times before she agreed to meet up with him, so much so that he almost gave up. She was a freshman and he was a junior; he thought she was older, she thought he was younger. They didn't really find out until he invited her over for dinner and bought a bottle of wine. This realization didn't stop them from having a great night and enjoying each others company. They had so much fun together and both felt like their connection was something special.
In August 2019, the bride and groom had the groom's sisters, Rebecca and Chloe, over to enjoy the sunshine and hang out. They had planned to head to Whitewater to enjoy the lake and then meet up with the groom's good friend, Ian, for dinner back in Madison. At the lake, they eventually found themselves a spot to look out onto the lake and the groom began talking about how much he cares for the bride and wanted them be together for the rest of their lives. That's when he asked the all important question and the only logical response the bride could come up with was "Well, duh!". After calling a bunch of family members to let them know about the engagement, they headed to dinner. When they walked onto the back patio at the restaurant it wasn't his friend they saw, but both of their families shouting congratulations to them. It was the perfect ending to an amazing day and reaffirmed how much their lives were going to be filled with love, support, and excitement.
