We were both attending Minnesota State University, Mankato for our freshman year of college. I had spent most of the time working that summer and I was excited to have a few days off and explore my new college. We were in the otto Rec center on campus doing some night activities, when I saw him. He was at the center of a team chant with a big mega phone. I knew I wanted to talk to him and I finally get a chance. He kept confusing me for a basketball from Edina, when I kept saying I graduated from Wayzata. We parted ways and didn't see each other until after we started school where we both joined the Navigators. We started talking about high school and life at a barn dance. I knew from that moment on that I wanted to be with him. We lost touch for a while after that, until something brought us together in February of 2017 when we went on our first date and the rest is history.

We knew we wanted to be together and we went home to spend time with our families over thanksgiving break. We went to his parents house before we had to head back to Mankato for work. I was on the phone before I went in to see him and his family. He knew how much I love Christmas time and Christmas lights, his parents had just put the tree up and his aunt and uncle were there. He told me he wanted to take pictures but the lights and the tree, he knows how much I would have loved this! After taking a few pictures together he turns to me and says "Now that my family is around us, I have something to ask you" and that's when he got down and asked me to marry him.
