We are requesting all RSVP's by June 20th. However, if you already know your response please help us by RSVP'ing sooner rather than later. We are so excited to celebrate with you, but we also understand all RSVP decisions! Please let us know if you have any food restrictions - allergies, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc. on the wedding RSVP section. Note: For those who already RSVP'd and need to provide a food restriction, please do so as if you're RSVP'ing again (sorry!).
We have hotel blocks at both the JW Marriott and Hotel Coco. Links are provided on the Travel page. Both hotels are in the neighborhood of Chapinero. Additional hotel recommendations are also listed on the travel page.
Bogota does not have tropical weather! It has a temperate highland climate, meaning it has mild temperatures throughout the year and can be cool at night. The average temperature in Bogota ranges from 68 °F during the day to 46 °F at night (20 to 8°C ). The sun can be strong during the day, so jeans and a light sweater or short sleeves are generally comfortable. However, the nights can be chilly, so a jacket is recommended.
Bogota sits at a hight altitude of 8,675ft (2,655mt) above sea level. If traveling from a lower altitude place, you may notice and feel the difference in the air. You will get winded more easily, you will get drunk more quickly, and the sun will be more intense. You should adjust after a day. However if prone to altitude sickness consider altitude medication.
The venue is located outside of Bogota. Expect traffic and plan for some travel time to get there. There are a few options for transportation: We will provide transportation to and from Fagua. Please RSVP if you would like to be included in this option. A private driver can be arranged for yourself or a smaller group. We can give you the information to book. If you are driving, there is parking at the venue. "Guardian Angel" drivers can be used at the end of the night to drive you and your car back to Bogota.
The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors, weather dependent. The reception will be held under a tent (with heaters).
Short answer: No However...We are planning to continue the party throughout the night at the venue. We encourage bringing sneakers or comfortable shoes for late night! (Ladies and Gents)
Tap water in Bogota is drinkable. If you have a sensitive stomach, stick to bottled to be safe (though definitely okay to brush your teeth). If you are traveling outside of Bogota, do not drink tap water.
The food at all our arranged and recommended venues is safe to eat, so dig in! Colombia has a wonderful assortment of fruits and veggies that will surpass all expectations. Rec's: Guanabana (Jac's favorite), Mangostino (Santi's favorite), Granadilla (your gut's favorite), Pitaya, Chirimoya, Lulo, Papaya, it never ends. Be sure, though, to be explicit about any allergies or eating restrictions as they are not as common there it might be overlooked. If you're an adventurous eater and want to try street food, do so at your peril!
Bogota is a large city, feel free to explore tourist and commercial areas. However, be mindful and alert as you would traveling any foreign city. Phone theft is frequent. While it is okay to check your phone for directions and to take photos, try to keep your phone in you bag or pocket when walking around. Uber is our main recommendation for traveling around. It is safe and reliable. Make sure to use the "Uber Comfort" option.
The currency is Colombian Pesos (COP). Most places take credit cards. If you do need cash, make sure to use a marked ATM, and don't accept help from strangers.
Kids are welcome! We are providing babysitting at the venue during the wedding on Saturday. Please RSVP on the website if you would like to be included. If babysitting is needed on any additional nights in Bogota, we can help coordinate; just let us know ASAP (ideally before June 20th)!
Any hotel, boutique hotel, or Airbnb inside the walled city is convenient. Please check out the Cartagena tab on the website for recommendations. Outside the walled city, there are cheaper options, but transportation could be a bit difficult.
