we're getting married!

Shelby’s life changed forever when she moved to Orlando in 2018 for her job. Not only does she adore her work, but it’s the reason she met Joey! Joey and Shelby share many values, but one that they hold deeply is their value of friendship. Everyone who knows them can attest that neither one of them knows a stranger. As fate - and the Lord had planned - they both created a friendship with Sam McMahon, who is responsible for their love story. After getting to know Joey through crossfit and Shelby, through work, Sam knew there was a story to be written. After texting and one persistent voicemail from Joey, they decided to meet one another in downtown Winter Garden. From the moment Shelby saw Joey, she knew he was the one. When Joey saw Shelby for the first time he said (out loud) ,“Wow, you look better in person than you do in your photos.” I guess that was his way of saying, ‘this is love at first sight!’ Shelby was smitten with Joey and Joey asked her out on a date the following week. As their relationship started, their love quickly bloomed through their faith and mutual love for SEC football. Shelby, a proud Ole Miss Rebel and Joey, a proud University of Florida Gator. Over their two years of dating they've gone through a lot together. They have celebrated victories, survived long distance dating and battled through COVID-19. Through it all they grew closer to one another and to Jesus, making them better together than they ever were apart. On July 3rd 2021, Joey asked Shelby to marry him on a Florida summer evening. After screaming, “YES!” at the top of her lungs, they joined their families for an unforgettable evening of celebration. Joey and Shelby quickly knew they wanted a short engagement. As Shelby says, I just can’t wait to finally marry the man of my dreams, so why wait! Their lakeside wedding will take place on December 4th, 2021 at The Devine home in Windermere, FL. Their story is proof that a Rebel really can fall for a Gator.
