Aaron was a writer / composer living in LA. Sandy was an actress living in LA. So them meeting and falling in love at a party was a cliché waiting to happen. Sandy's roommate at the time starred in a production of Aaron's musical (Tesla), and knew he and his roommate and co-writer were board game afficionados (NERDS). So when she decided to have a board game Christmas party, they were immediately invited (probably only for their oversized board game library). Aaron and Sandy couldn't have met under better circumstances - surrounded by good people and doing what they love. For Aaron, it was love at first sight. So naturally, he waited two years to ask her out, during the darkest hour of the COVID-19 pandemic. Miraculously, she said yes, and they picked up right where they left off: Surrounding themselves with good people, starting with each other, and doing what they love - spending time with each other. And now, this January, you're invited to join them as they declare their intention to spend their lives together.
Sandy knew Aaron was a travel buff, and Sandy knew Aaron was planning to take her to central Mexico to see the annual monarch butterfly migration in late February. But Sandy didn't know just WHY he was dragging her to a remote mountain in Michoacan. She didn't know he'd carefully chosen and bought the ring months before, and had kept it hidden in his travel bag for 12 days as they drove through 1,000 miles of mountains, jungles, and cities. She didn't know until they were halfway up the mountain and they stopped for "a picture," which was technically true - a picture of him getting on his knee to beg her to be his wife for the rest of their lives. Though she never technically said yes (she was crying too hard to speak), she did immediately put the ring on, which was understood to be a resounding "yes."
