Ben and Sandya matched on the South Asian dating app, DilMil. Sandya lived in Arkansas for medical school and Ben lived in Houston for work. At the time, they were both near giving up on finding love on DilMil. Just when they least expected it they matched with each other. Eventually, the texts became phone calls and the phone calls became FaceTimes. Later that summer, Ben and Sandya were both vacationing in California. Sandya and her mom were in Los Angeles. Ben and his two friends, Joel and Chris, were in San Francisco making their drive down to San Diego. On the way, Joel and Chris convinced Ben to make a stop in Los Angeles to meet Sandya. After their first quick date, they saw each other again later that week in Chicago.
