In one of the toughest years, 2020 ended on a positive note for us. Towards the end of the year, we matched on the Bumble app — to mark the start of our journey; a glimpse of hope in the middle of a pandemic. Our first communication was a video call that lasted an hour and a half. We then started dating in one of the most peculiar times to date — a pandemic full of masks and 6 feet distance. For our first several dates, we decided to play it safe and opted for outdoor dining (suffice to say - it was freeeezzzzing!!). Don’t worry, we adhered to the 6 feet distance policy, took long walks, and Sumit always walked me home prior to the 10 pm curfew. Even during all of the madness, we grew closer together with each date and eagerly look forward to the next opportunity to meet up. Our first date was on November 5, 2020 - the exact date of our upcoming wedding!! This, by the way, was completely unplanned! Our relationship is full of moments like this. After quarantining for months, and spending virtually all of our time together; we quickly realized that if we could go through one of the toughest winters of our lives together, we could overcome anything that comes our way! While we looked for our first apartment during a challenging market, we found THE engagement ring literally next door to our new home! After over a year of dating, Sumit took the big leap and planned an unforgettable proposal in Hawaii!! The big moment happened on the beach during sunset hour (my happy place!); he gave me a moving speech and an exquisitely romantic evening of live music, delicious plant-based food, lovely views and decorations, and the best vegan and gluten-free chocolate cake (free of refined sugar — just like I like it!). Every detail was thought out and truly showed his loving and caring heart to me. It was the best evening of our lives yet. This is the beginning of our love story!!
