I planned the proposal for several weeks & chose to ask her on a date weeks before so that she wouldn't suspect a thing as she was busy with work. I went to an antique store to pick up a ring box since she loves things like that. I asked a friend to take her out for brunch & a manicure while I was at work as to not create suspicion. -Sergio It really had been a long week so it was nice when my friend asked me to go to brunch & get my nails done. I had been so tired that I didn't put the date & the nails together. When Sergio got home, he told me to get ready but I was so tired that I didn't want to get dressed up. In hindsight, I'm so glad I did. -Sandra While we were getting ready, I had a couple of friends set up the evening so that she wouldn't suspect anything. What was difficult was trying to give them instructions while I was with Sandy but not draw attention to it. -Sergio To preface, he tends to do random dates often so when he told me to get ready & wouldn't tell me where we were going, it really didn't seem that odd. We picked up some food, & then he told me to put a blindfold on; odd but still not entirely weird for him. We started driving, all the while I'm making jokes about how weird this must look from the outside. We parked, & I had no idea where we were. He left me in the car for a little while, came back, & then started walking me down a trail so obviously I made a joke about this is how people get murdered. When he took the blindfold off, he had this beautiful set-up of twinkly lights & a candle-lit picnic set up by one of our favorite running trails with music playing. We sat down & started eating, after a little bit he asked me if I wanted to dance. While we were dancing, the music stopped & a guitar started playing. Our friends came out of the corner & started playing our song "Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles. He got down on one knee & pulled out a beautiful ring. The night finished with our friend taking pictures of our proposal. -Sandra
