It all began on April 10, 2020 with Basileo sending Sandra a “like'' on eHarmony. After reviewing Basileo’s profile, Sandra responded 10 days later. Sandra knew that if they had over 100% compatibility she could not pass him by. Plus, Basileo had a picture with a very large fish on his profile and Sandra likes men who fish. They chatted on-line for days which turned into weeks during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, building interest and getting to know more about each other. Sandra was skeptical that a long distance relationship would be successful. Basileo promised Sandra that he would do whatever it takes to make it work. Sandra only exchanged her phone number with Basileo the week before he planned to drive to the DFW to meet her for the first time.

On Friday, May 22, 2020, Basileo drove over 250+ miles from San Antonio to meet Sandra at the Fort Worth StockYards. Sandra arrived just a bit early and was scared to get out of the car. She even called a friend to give her strength to get out of the car to meet Basileo. After greeting each other with a smile and a hug, they decided to have dinner and a few drinks at Riscky’s Bar-B-Q. Basileo was so nervous that he did not eat during the date. They sat at a cozy little corner at the bar and talked for several hours until it was closing time. After a lot of conversation and laughs, they were not ready to go home so they continued the night with some dancing at Ol School Texas. She danced the night away as he watched 90% of the time and joined in for a few country songs here and there. When Sandra arrived home, she told her mother and sister that she was going to marry this man. They did not believe her but Sandra’s notion of their 100% compatibility on eHarmony was confirmed. Though Basileo had planned to stay in Arlington for the weekend, plans for the rest of the weekend had not been given any thought. On Saturday, Basileo and Sandra picked up some Mexican food and spent a few hours talking about the wonderful night. They then parted ways for the evening. Sunday Sandra made plans to take the "fisherman" fishing. With Basileo’s claims to be a fisherman, Sandra needed to validate he was 100% who he claimed to be. They made their way to lake Arlington at 11am in the morning and fished and fished and fished until 9pm. All Basileo caught was a turtle and an entire day of great company. Learning more about each other Since their first date, Basileo has driven 500+ miles every two weeks from San Antonio to be with Sandra. Sandra bought a house for her boys and has was able to make room for him to stay while he was in town. They’ve spent time getting to know each other more, meeting each other's families and making memories.

After months of searching for the perfect ring, Basileo proposed to Sandra on January 30, 2021 in front of the Fort Worth Stockyards, where it all began.
