As of September 3rd, 2020, Ryan and I have made the decision to scale down our wedding to just our bridal party, parents, and grandparents. We have agonized over this decision but we do feel that we are doing the right thing. We will be posting our ceremony on Facebook Live at 4:30 PM on October 10th, 2020 for those of you who would sill like to be apart of our day. With much love, the future Mr. & Mrs. Ryan Schmidt.
Back in 2015, we met through work. Ryan was working for UPS and Lexi was working for TyrrellTech. Ryan was running the UPS route that handled the TyrrellTech pick up and drop offs. We met on a busy day as Lexi had just "run out off her flip flops" trying to get orders ready for pick up. Ryan was in the warehouse patiently waiting and playing country music from the truck. Lexi stopped in her tracks as she heard the music. They were introduced and started off as friends but they shortly realized that this could be something more.
We were back at our favorite island, Half Moon Cay, in the Bahamas. Ryan had gotten a bottle of champagne for us to drink after we were on the island but Lexi just had to have mimosas as we were getting ready to get off the ship. Lucky Ryan, right? We got off the ship without the Champagne. Ryan wanted to walk to the very tip of the island to get away from the crowd. Lexi agreed but halfway down the island, Lexi just had to get in the water. Lexi got in the water and asked Ryan to come in with her, Ryan did not as he had the ring in his pocket. Lexi saw another couple get engaged a few yards over. Lexi got so excited and happy. Ryan got Lexi out of the water and we continued to walk until Ryan found a photographer from the cruise ship. Ryan asked for a picture. Lexi thought this is weird, Ryan is not usually the one to ask for pictures. Then it all made sense. The champagne, the swimming, the secluded area. Ryan took my hands, got down on one knee, and asked me to be his forever. We are so excited to share this next chapter in our lives with all of you!
