Our Love Story
It was a bright and sunny summer Saturday evening in Old Town. The sun was beaming and our hearts were full of excitement with the dawn of new beginnings on the horizon. We had been waiting for this moment our whole lives! Brendan and Sandie had been searching on CatholicMatch.com for over 5 years, waiting and hoping to God for the perfect match. On one faithful evening, their lives would forever change... God would outdo himself in generosity and cannot possibly be outshined in His generous heart and Fatherly nature.
Sandie was a late (running on Latino time) helping her family with errands. Brendan waited patiently with the server apologizing that he had possibly been stood up. Meanwhile, Sandie was praying her Bishop Barron rosary via Spotify in the car. She asked her sisters, Karol and Jean, to please pray for her date. She felt an anticipation of joy when thinking about what meeting Brendan would be like. Just two days before, Sandie was amazed at how bold Brendan was. Brendan asked what Sandie's favorite book and date spot was and Sandie replied "The Seven Capital Sins: Pride, Covetousness, Lust, Anger, Gluttony, Envy, Sloth" and Old Town, Alexandria. Shortly after their first ever FaceTime, Brendan not only read the whole book but asked Sandie out to Michael on Kings restaurant and said he would fly there from Kentucky. Sandie had lost her makeup bag right before the date and was nervous that she couldn't do her makeup like she normally did. But she hoped that if Brendan really loved her for her that it would not matter. In fact, her Bible verse that day was, 1 Peter 3:3-4 "Let your beauty come not from the outward adorning of braiding your hair and of wearing gold ornaments or of putting on fine clothing. But from the hidden person of the heart in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God's sight."
When Sandie and Brendan saw each other for the first time, their hearts jumped with joy. Sandie was in awe that Brendan was such a gentlemen to give her the exact instructions of where he was sitting in the restaurant. She would appreciate the little things that he would do for her. They felt their first hug was like hugging family and once they looked into each others eyes they felt they would forever be intertwined in each others lives (and that Brendan's American Airline miles would skyrocket). Brendan thought that Sandie was the most beautiful woman in the world.
