Brittany: So in July 2019, my linesister invited me on a trip to the Hamptons with a group of friends from FAMU. I had recently started a new job so I seriously contemplated not going, but in my conquest to have a 'Hot Girl Summer,' I packed my bags and booked a flight to New York. How thankful I am that I did. Who knew that it would be my last hot girl summer or that I’d end up meeting the man of my dreams! Najee: During our trip to the Hamptons, I noticed this beautiful woman with the prettiest smile and vibrant personality. I was surprised that we were at FAMU together but never met. She was someone I had to get to know. After the trip, we stayed in contact with early morning phone calls and texts throughout the day. Brittany use to HATE me calling her at 6am BUT she would still pick up, and I’m happy she did. As we entered the new year in 2020, I made plans to spend New Year's Eve in Atlanta with some friends. During my visit, Brittany and I went on our first date together at Miss Icey's Kitchen in Decatur. We never got the chance to hang individually in the Hamptons so I was happy to have some alone time! It was a memorable day for both of us. I headed back to New Jersey the day after. Brittany: Back up! To fill y’all in…during Najee’s visit, he forgot to mention he FINALLY expressed his desire to pursue a romantic relationship. I wasn’t sure of how serious he was so I wouldn’t allow myself to get my hopes up… not until his actions matched his words. I needed ENERGY!!! We initially planned a trip for me to visit Najee in New Jersey in February of 2020. However, as the first few cases of COVID-19 began to show up in the United States, Najee didn’t think it was safe for me to travel and thus my visit to New Jersey was canceled. I was disappointed! However, within a few weeks the entire country began to shut down due to COVID. With ground zero being in the New York and New Jersey area, Najee booked a ticket to come visit me in Atlanta. Najee: During the first weeks of the shut down, we spent every day together. I knew I had to make her my girlfriend and lock things down. However, there was one huge issue we had to face... the distance between each other.

Brittany: If you want to be technical, Najee never really asked me specifically to be his girl. All I remember is one day, he introduced me as his girlfriend to his friends and thus March 14th became our anniversary! Since everything was shut down and everyone worked from home, the pandemic really allowed our relationship to flourish! We would fly and even make 13 hour drives traveling back and forth to visit each other. The things you do for love, right! Najee: At the end of 2021, after a few heartfelt conversations and with the approval of my job, I decided to take a leap of faith and move to Atlanta. I knew I wanted to spend my life with Brittany. She was and is my rock! It's been one of the best decision I have made in my life.

Najee: At the beginning of our relationship, I mentioned to Brittany that Disney World is one of my favorite places to visit. With a laugh, I literally said to her, “I want to propose to my wife there.” She thought I was joking. Brittany: Clearly!! Najee: As 2023 began, I started thinking of how I would propose. I received an invitation from a close friend to attend his wedding in Bordeaux, France and I knew we had to go. While planning the trip, I realized it would be amazing to visit Paris afterwards since neither of us had been there before. And guess what -- there was also a Disney in Paris! After receiving the blessing of Brittany’s parents to propose, I now had to execute my plan. Brittany: During our trip to France, we visited all of the 'must see' landmarks! We did a Seine River dinner cruise, had a beach day on the French Riviera, visited the Palace of Versailles, the Louvre museum and the Effiel tower. We did a lot! Towards the end of our trip Najee mentioned he had a surprise date planned for our last day. Now, I know what you guys are thinking, did I suspect anything at this point. The answer is no! I thought maybe he planned a nice dinner or a photoshoot. Never did I expect what would happen next. Najee: On the morning of our surprise date, we took the train to Disneyland Paris. Brittany had no clue and not telling her where we were going was actually pretty easy! With everything being in French, navigating through France was a daily adventure! Even with Brittany being clueless, I could sense her excitement as we traveled on the train. As we enjoyed the rides and attractions throughout the day, I nervously carried the ring with me. I had to find the right place! Brittany: Still no idea. Najee: Finally, I found it! The perfect spot to ask THE question that would change our lives forever - in front of the iconic Disney castle. I got down on one knee and asked her to be my wife! I didn’t even crease my brand new Jordan sneakers… it was truly a magical moment! With the crowd applauding after she said yes. Words couldn’t explain the excitement that was going through me. I felt extremely blessed and thankful that I finally found my one and only. Brittany: Saying yes to Najee was the easiest decision I’ve ever made. I couldn’t stop smiling. The feeling was euphoric! I found my forever love, my soulmate.
