Hi. It’s Maddie and Ryan! Thank you for taking a look at our wedding website- we are so excited to celebrate with you in July. Ryan and I met in person on October 8, 2017 after a brief exchange via Tinder. He was just a boy with, “I love cleaning and Microsoft Excel” in his dating profile, and she was just a girl with, “Buy me a hotdog from Home Depot” in hers. We both thought that the other was joking. We met at the Woodward Avenue Brewery and have talked every day since. I told my infamous cow joke and Ryan was smitten. We moved into our Detroit home together in 2021. Our cat, Chicken (known as ‘Chickpea’ to the vet as I was too embarrassed to share his formal name) was rescued from the alley behind their house. He is loved in a home where love is abundant. Every morning is full of laughter (and coffee + breakfast, courtesy of Ryan), with the occasional Tottenham Football game on in the background. The house we live in is more than just a backdrop to our story, it’s become a part of us. It creaks when we dance to Wilco on the record player and sways in the summer breeze when we drink wine on the front porch and wave to the neighborhood dogs. Its walls have seen us cry through devastating family losses, celebrate huge career accomplishments, cook experimental meals in the kitchen (I’m usually just there to keep Ryan company), keep plants alive (and kill a couple), watch really bad romcoms, competitively do the morning crossword, plan trips and daydream about others. This house has watched us grow up, from boyfriend and girlfriend to fiancés who’ve promised our hearts to one another no matter what the world might have in store. We took our engagement pictures on our Woodbridge walking route that we do a few times a week- it’s the route where we decompress, tell jokes, talk to neighbors and share whatever else might be on our mind. This is the neighborhood where we’ve built a home, a community and so much more, so it made sense to be captured in our natural habitat. On July 3, 2023, Ryan proposed in Canada, after a day heli-hiking together in the Bugaboo Wilderness. We cried, we laughed, we hugged onlooking strangers as my family watched from the balcony above. It really felt like magic. And through it all, we’ve come to find that we’re just two peas in a pod. Our wedding will be a party for all of those who have witnessed our love, and all who have been a part of it. We are lucky to have found one another, and we are also so lucky to know and love each of you. We can’t wait. See you in July, M+R
