Answer

Cocktail attire. The ceremony will be outdoors on a patio (not on the sand), so consider bringing a light jacket / shaul. Dinner and dancing will be indoors.

Answer

Yes, there will be hosted valet parking at Shutters on the Beach. You're also welcome to Uber/Lyft.

Question

What is a Tisch?

Answer

The Tisch is a pre-wedding celebration where male friends and relatives toast the groom. The word Tisch means “table”, and that’s just what this part of the wedding day is about. It’s a tradition where guests gather around a table to eat, drink and congratulate the groom. The atmosphere is usually very energetic, and there’s typically a lot of singing and dancing that goes on. Afterward, the groom and his entourage will dance their way over to the bride.

Question

What is a Bedeken?

Answer

Bedeken means to "cover" or "to veil." The bride sits in a chair, surrounded by her mother, grandmothers, future mother-in-law and bridesmaids. Guests will come to greet the bride and share their well-wishes. There is dancing, singing, drinks and food. After the Tisch, the groom and his entourage dance their way over to where the bride is seated. After assuring himself that this is "actually" his bride, he then places her veil over her face. The tradition stems from the Bible wherein Jacob was tricked into marrying the sister of the woman he loved because the sister was veiled by someone else. If the groom does the veiling himself, such trickery can never happen.

Question

What is the Ketubah Signing?

Answer

The ketubah is a Jewish marriage contract. It is signed by the couple, two witnesses who are not family members and the Rabbi, before the ceremony takes place. It is then read aloud to the bride during the ceremony.
