Most of you guys know, but here’s the story for those who have never heard it. Sam is from Green Bay, WI, and Taylor is from Dallas, TX. Our paths were never meant to cross, except they did, and we are really glad they did. Long story, but Taylor decided in 2018 to further her degree and got accepted into her second bachelor's school at the Texas Women’s University in Denton. Taylor was supposed to go to Ireland that fall, but her dad convinced her to wait until June 2019. Taylor was hesitant, but found out there was a Spice Girls concert in the UK that summer, so she waited. Sam met his buddy, Mitch Kreps, at Oshkosh Defense in the Summer of 2018 and had arranged for Sam to move to Oshkosh on the other side of the duplex he was moving into. Sam and Mitch became friends, coworkers, neighbors, and hockey coaches (with one other guy, Kyle). Sam coaches hockey for a little league team called The Warbirds. Over the years, Sam, Mitch, and Kyle were always together and hanging out, coaching hockey from Little League 2019-2020 to UWO’s Hockey Club Team 2021. Taylor finally took the trip to Ireland in June 2019 with a bunch of college-aged adults around the United States. Most of them were from Texas, some from Massachusetts, Florida, but only one was from Wisconsin, and we didn’t let her live it down. That is when Taylor met Mikayla. Mikayla is from Wisconsin and was currently living in Oshkosh, WI, after her bachelor’s degree. Taylor and Mikayla stayed in touch here and there, and then the pandemic happened in March 2020. Taylor finally finished her second degree after doing trimesters and was ready for a change. She decided to move anywhere but Texas. She was debating about moving to Chicago. Taylor decided to reach out to Mikayla and let her know her plan for a job interview in Chicago, and then would drive up and hang out with Mikayla in July 2020. Mikayla invited a bunch of her friends from Oshkosh to welcome and show Taylor around her town. Little did Taylor know, she would feel at home and end up deciding to move in with Mikayla in October of 2020. Taylor went home to tell her parents she was moving, and her parents thought she was crazy and that it wouldn’t last. Taylor loaded up her car and hit the 17-hour drive north with knowing only a couple of people. Mikayla, at this time, was allowing Taylor to live with her, and then Mikayla started dating Kyle. (Sam’s friend and hockey coach) Sam, at this time, was still working for Oshkosh Defense and coaching for the Warbirds for one last season. He then decided to move on to the next season in September 2021 to coach for UWO hockey. Since Mikayla went to the games, she invited Taylor to the hockey game on October 1, 2021. Taylor looked at the bench and saw Sam and thought he was cute. After the game, we all went to Dublin’s Irish Pub: Sam, Kyle, Mikayla, and Taylor. Sam didn’t speak one word to Taylor, but Taylor knew she wanted to see him again. Taylor had Mikayla do some digging on Sam to see what type of guy he was and if they would be a good match. Mikayla came back after a couple of weeks and said Sam was single and tried to get us to hang out. Sam had bought a house in Oshkosh and was in the process of moving in December 2021. Sam was reluctant to come out on December 3rd before he left for a vacation with his family. Taylor and Sam “officially” met at the Gibson Hall in Oshkosh, and the rest is history. Taylor moved in with Sam in July 2022, and then Sam proposed to Taylor in October 2024. Sam and Taylor have continued their love by eloping on Friday, June 13, 2025, and are expecting a baby in December 2025. We have discovered that our hobbies are biking, traveling, and playing with our dogs, Lexi, Bandit, and Nellie. So far we have travelled to New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Texas, Michigan, Turks and Caicos, Iceland, Scotland, Tennessee, and Illinois, but hoping on many more.
