It all started through a mutual friend who was interested in helping me find a place of worship when I arrived in Washington DC in 2022. Little did he know that destiny had woven its intricate threads, ready to unveil a tale of love and serendipity. It was Sunday like any other, but that day would forever hold a special place in my heart. Sam arrived at my doorstep, dressed in his finest attire, with a beaming smile that could light up the world to pick me up for service for the first time. On our way to church, he tried to engage me in conversation, and I noticed his great sense of humor! In the following week, as the calendar turned to mark his birthday, the universe seemed to conspire in my favor :). He chose to spend his special day with me, a gesture that spoke volumes about our friendship. Laughter filled the air as we celebrated together, realizing the profound connection that was blossoming between us. But the grand twist of fate was yet to come! Everything seemed to be happening so fast. On a significant day, his mother’s birthday, he gathered the courage to take a leap of faith. He asked me to be his girlfriend. I was super happy and the joy that radiated from both of us was undeniable. From meeting his parents, introducing him to my parents, my birthday memories in Chicago, spending summer with his sister & family and Christmas with his family and mine are all memories we shared together which will forever remain in our hearts and minds. Not forgetting to mention the surprise proposal he organized just before I graduated from school. I believe that our love story unfolded with a sense of divine timing, moving swiftly and effortlessly. As I look back on that fortuitous meeting, I cannot help to feel blessed and lucky for finding a soulmate who complements my life in ways I never imagined. I thank God for meeting Sam and I pray that our journey continues to be filled with love, joy, and an everlasting sense of gratitude as we create life together that is beautiful as the story of how we met.
On Friday February 4, 2022, a friend of mine whom I picked up in DC to go play soccer with inquired if I could pick up a lady who recently moved from Ghana to the US to church. I told him to feel free to give my number to the said lady. The following day, the lady texted via WhatsApp and introduced herself as Philippa. It was a Saturday and I thought she had reached out to ask to be picked up to church the following day. However, she stated she wanted to settle in first. I found that interesting because that sounded like something I would have said if I were in her shoes. In the course of the week, she texted to check up on me and mentioned she would love to go to church the coming Sunday. I teased her and wrote, “Oh you have finally settled in now”. She filled the chat with numerous laughing emojis. I got to meet Phil for the first time on February 13, 2022. I had no idea how she looked because she did not have a picture on WhatsApp. I pulled up in front of the building she was living in and called her on the phone to come out. She came out in her pink striped shirt with a big nose mask covering almost her entire face. I politely asked her to take off the nose mask so that I could see the lady I was taking to church. She obliged and took it off slowly. She was a pretty lady with a contagious smile. I couldn’t hold back my smile either. If smiles were to give covid-19 I would have tested positive that second. In addition to her charming look, her demeanor was so pleasant throughout the drive to church. I thought to myself, God could she be the one. I am certain God smiled and responded in the affirmative. The more I got to know Phil, the more I loved her. There was no time to waste. She was what I had always prayed for. She’s a sweet lady with a good CHARACTER. I call her my REWARD. I sought the Lord diligently and patiently for a wife, and He rewarded me with Philippa Abena Addai. Indeed, in His time He makes all things beautiful.
