We met at a temporary job when I, Melissa, first moved to Waco in 2017. I thought he was stalking me at first and tried to get rid of him but then I started to like him. His first intention was for us to be friends but little did I know, he was starting to like me too. We became best friends and always talked about the Lord and worship music. I would sing and he would play his guitar. One day I prayed to the Lord about how much I admired him wasn’t sure if he liked me the same. The very next night he took me out around the city and out on a Chick-Fil-A date. He told me how he felt about me and that he had been praying to the Lord about me as well. We dated for a little over a year when he decided to move to my home city to start a life there (Fort Worth). I moved back to Fort Worth 6 months after him and I didn’t realize that he was trying to settle himself financially so that he could ask me to marry him. On November 16, 2019, he planned a beautiful surprise proposal and got as many of our family and loved ones as he could to gather at our church. Before we ever met, we came from very separate ways. The Lord answered our prayers; not only that we would find whoever He had for us, but to be with someone that would enable us to grow and become more like Christ. We are not the perfect couple that everyone thinks we are and not everything is 'rainbows and butterflies'. We don't always agree with everything and we've had hard times and many tears; but the Lord has placed us together and has blessed us greatly along the way. He has placed people in our lives that help us to grow and walk in love for each other even in difficult seasons. He has taught us to walk in humility and is teaching us to face the ugliness that every person battles with in their own hearts so that we can love each other and love others as He loves us. And we are thankful and blessed to soon come together as one in Christ.
