Once upon a warm summers day Sam asked Maeve to accompany him on a date (or a “hot date” if Sam is telling the story). The date started very normally. They discussed where to eat and eventually came to no conclusion and drove until something sparked their interest. This was a typical occurrence. The sun was beating down on them as they walked along old brick sidewalks in St. Michaels, Maryland. Suddenly, Sam began to complain of intense stomach pain…he NEEDED to go home. Now. But Maeve wanted food, and of course, Sam obliged. She ate as slowly as possible and even ordered Smith Island Cake as her dessert. After all, she was in no rush. Sam began to sweat…a storm was brewing and he was planning a grand proposal that required perfect weather. Naturally, his “stomach pain” became worse. “Are you ready to go now?” He asked. “Of course! Let’s get you home to rest” she replied. He was driving rather slowly for someone who seemed to be in a rush. Maeve suspected nothing. Suddenly, the car veered off the drive way into Maeve’s wooded backyard. Horseflies began to smack the car like bullets. A table appeared on the horizon decorated with fine linens and wine. Sam loudly exclaimed, “IT’S NOT WHAT YOU THINK!” But rest assured, it was exactly what Maeve thought. It was not physical sickness that Sam was experiencing, but rather, love sickness. They took a walk around the property, wine in hand, reminiscing on all their old memories and fun trips together. Eventually, they made it to the waterfront where a dock lined with photos and flowers awaited them. They walked out to the end of the dock and….Maeve said “yes” to a question Sam apparently asked but neither of them remember because they blacked out from excitement. The end.
