Question

Where are fun places to stop on the way over?

Answer

-On the way down- Arrowhead travel plaza Make a quick stop at the Arrowhead travel plaza in Pendleton to stretch your legs and walk around for a bit. It’s the perfect halfway pause before finishing the drive and such a unique gas station. (At this point in the trip, Madigan usually wakes up for a little while to hang out with Sam… and then promptly falls back asleep for the rest of the drive 🤍) Multnomah Falls Another amazing place to stop! It’s a beautiful (and fairly easy) hike up to the bridge and a great spot to pause during the drive. We always try to stop here when we can! Last Blockbuster (Bend) If you’re passing through Bend, check out the last Blockbuster on Earth for a little bit of nostalgia—it’s such a fun and quirky stop.

Question

What are fun things to do in the Newport area?

Answer

-Activities- Visiting the lighthouses One of our favorite things to do while in Oregon is explore the lighthouses along the coast—fun fact: our ceremony will be held right beneath one! Sea Lion Caves This is one of Madigan’s favorite childhood memories. It’s such a unique experience to see California sea lions in their natural cave habitat—definitely worth a visit! Sea Lion Docks (Newport) A classic stop! Watching the sea lions lounge (and occasionally argue over space) on the docks is always entertaining. Oregon Coast Aquarium We visit every time we’re in the area. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and such a relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Devil’s Punchbowl An incredible natural cove along the coast. You can’t go inside, but it’s still a really cool place to explore and take in the views. (We jokingly call it “the Devil’s butthole”… because we’re mature like that 🤍)

NYE Beach Café One of the best spots on the coast—delicious food and a cozy atmosphere. A must-visit! Clearwater Restaurant A more upscale option with amazing food and views overlooking the sea lion docks—perfect for a nice dinner out. The Candy Basket Home to the most amazing chocolate honey treats! Stop in for sweets, saltwater taffy, and a little indulgence. Pirate Coffee Company (Depoe Bay) Our go-to morning stop! Pirate Coffee Company is such a cute little coffee shop and the perfect place to grab a quick drink before starting the day. Newport Café Madigan’s parents’ favorite spot growing up! It may not look like much from the outside, but the food is good —definitely worth a visit.
