Maddie and Sam met their first year at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Although Sam thought he had moves, Maddie didn’t realize he tried to ask her out for the first time in Spring of 2013 (can’t blame her, it happened as the elevator doors were closing). They ran in the same social circles and went on a few dates until their relationship really took off Summer of 2014. From there, they were inseparable, long nights at the library, longer Badger Football gamedays, and anniversary weekends in Door County.

Yikes, 2020 was a bit of a tough year for everyone. Especially for Sam's proposal plans. Cancelled trips to Southeast Asia, Hawaii, and Pictured Rocks finally left him with a perfect Milwaukee location. Maddie and Sam take yearly trips to explore new National Parks, and on each trip, they pick a hike that is way too long, with way too much elevation gain. Since Milwaukee is pretty flat, they spend mornings before the trip doing sunrise hikes on the steps at Atwater Park. It was fitting to take the first step to their next adventure with one more sunrise at Atwater.

We are so excited to celebrate with you, with lots of dancing, cake, and a lake. Some of our favorite things! June 25th 2022 can't come soon enough.
