Sam and Katie met working together at Starbucks in 2017. Katie was head over heels since the first time she saw Sam and could not wait to work with him. It only took her 2 years to finally speak to him and admit that she had been crushing on him. Sam returned her feelings and finally asked Katie out on their first date November 12, 2019. From there it was history!

When Katie was too infatuated with Sam to even speak to him, she used to point him out to her Aunt Pam every time he was leaving work, yelling, "that's him, don't look... don't look!" Katie and Aunt Pam prayed that Sam and her would one day become friends. After a year dating, Aunt Pam was placed on Hospice Home Care. The day Aunt Pam came home from the hospital, she secretly pulled Sam aside and gifted him Katie's great grandmother's ring. She asked that if, when Sam was ready, he would give it to Katie. Two months and 15 days later, on New Year's Eve, Sam popped the question on Sanibel! Sam and Katie went to walk the beach to look at the beautiful full moon and fireworks when Sam grabbed her hand, knelt on one knee, and said, "Kaitlin, will you marry me?"
