The Delaware Water Gap is just a 30 minute drive from the hotel. This tranquil nature reserve contains various hiking trails, such as the Mt Tammany Red Dot trail, which features breathtaking views of the Delaware River. (oh, and don’t be fooled by the name, the park is nowhere near Delaware).
Lake Hapatcong is the largest freshwater body in New Jersey. To swim, fish or lounge, head to Mount Arlington Municipal Beach, a public, family- friendly beach about 5 minutes from the Homewood Suites Rockaway hotel. There are some great restaurants/bars on the lake- about 10 to15 minutes from the Homewood Suites Rockaway hotel: • Alice’s - lake view with indoor/outdoor seating, bar area and could have live music. Big Fish Lounge downstairs - outdoor patio, bar, shuffleboard, dart boards. https://www.alicesrestaurantnj.com • The Beacon – lakefront with bar, indoor/outdoor seating and a band Saturday night. https://www.thebeaconlh.com • Stone Water 3-Peaks Marina – lakefront with indoor/outdoor seating and bar inside. https://stonewaternj.com • The Windlass – lakefront with indoor/outdoor seating and bar inside. https://www.thewindlass.com • Hop aboard “Miss Lotta” for a Lake Hapatcong Cruise (opens April 4 for scheduling) https://www.lhcruises.com
Fort Nonsense Brewery is a local favorite. They offer a beer garden as well as plenty of unique beers on tap.
Montclair is where we live! It is a cute nearby town with a more upscale, suburban feel. It’s known for its bars, restaurants, and nightlife. It’s about a 30-minute drive from the hotel. Some of our favorite spots are the view from Eagle Rock Reservation, a quick bite from Efi's Gyros, a sit-down meal at Laboratorio, Pappardelle, or Zeugma's, or you can sit outside at Egan & Son's.
Morristown is another cute nearby town with a more upscale, suburban feel. Also known for its bars, restaurants, and nightlife. It’s about a 30-minute drive from the hotel.
If you’re coming from far away, consider staying an extra night and spending it in New York City. It’s about an hour drive from the hotel. If you'd rather sleep in NYC, there is a train station in Hackettstown, NJ (where our wedding is) that is less than a mile from our venue! The train from NYC to Hackettstown is about 2 hours.
There is a festival happening our wedding weekend about 40 minutes away. We have never been, but it looks like fun if you are looking for something to do Saturday.
