I am lucky to call Dami my sister and closest friend. We have gone through different stages of our lives together. To see this union between herself and Sam come to fruition is almost surreal. It hits me at different periods that my baby girl is starting her own family with her special guy, Sam. I have watched their relationship from the sidelines and could not be more proud of how they have both grown as individuals and together and put God at the centre of their relationship. I met Dami on the first week of our Master's degree . When I saw her genuine smile I just knew how amazing of a person she is. We quickly started hanging out and it was like we'd known each other for so many years. One great memory, was when Dami was kind enough to braid my hair! We had a sleep over and the braiding took almost 12 hours. We were dancing (of course), listening to music, and just laughing hard! Throughout our studies together we were joking about who will get engaged first. I was so happy for them the day I received photos of Dami and Sam getting engaged. I wish them all the happiness in the world and pray for a long and healthy life together with mini Sams and Damis running around! I am so grateful and honoured to be part of your journey together. Navigating life and its pinches alone in a new environment is rather cold & lonely. An experience I’m fortunate enough to have never experienced because I was lucky to meet Damilola. Dami brought warmth and laughter to our journey at St Andrews. We created a friendship so strong that it didn’t know the differences in our cultural backgrounds, languages, and our ability to conquer spicy food. Throughout, it was impossible not to know Sam. Between working tirelessly for the firm and sneaking off during lunch break to the Cinema we built a friendship. This friendship also extended to Sam as they were a package deal. I remember coming back from school one day and punishing Dami because she ‘disobeyed’ me. She was so scared, she actually served the punishment as well! She’s been my best friend since she was born but I’d never admit to it except for the fact that she’s getting married. For all intents, she’s my younger older sister. Sam is a day 1 friend.
