Storytime! The Night Sam Asked Cassie Out

For her 30th birthday, Cassie decided to throw herself a dinner and swing dancing party! The day of the big event, Cassie had a lovely time, but there was just something (or someone) missing. She was hoping for a birthday present to surpass all birthday presents, and at 11:30pm, Jesus delivered. Unbeknownst to Cassie, the day of her birthday, Sam had decided to break his fast from dating. It was time. He asked his roommate to be his dating app accountability buddy and his roommate agreed, but jokingly said, "Sam, you probably won't need this, what if you meet someone at swing dancing tonight?" "Ha!" Sam said, "Swing dancing is a sport, that's not likely to happen." Thus, Sam and Cassie found themselves at Lindygroove in Pasadena to dance the night away. The night was getting late and around 11, Sam asked Cassie to dance. Joy splashed around them like confetti. Sam said happy birthday since he had seen Cassie participate in the birthday dance and she said thanks and made some (hopefully witty) remark about being 30. Sam was encouraging. By the end of the dance, they each thought to themselves, "Wow, what a fun dancer!" and moved on. At around 11:30pm, Cassie felt like she needed to do a wall squat. She asked Jesus where she should go in the room, as is her habit. Jesus indicated a spot on the wall near the giant fan, where Sam happened to be cooling himself off. She walked past him and to Sam, appeared to slump down weirdly on the wall. This intrigued Sam. He knew Cassie was a good dancer, but did they have chemistry? Only one way to find out. He walked over and made conversation. "You're such a good dancer, probably the most fun here on the dance floor," said Sam. "Thanks! You're great too! I like to make it easy on the leads by smiling, it takes the pressure off," said Cassie. Sam nodded his head, "My goal as a lead is to make the follows smile, and since you're already smiling, we get to just play! It's great!" said Sam. Sam asked Cassie to dance another and she happily agreed. At the end of their dance, Sam pulled her aside and asked, "Do you want to go on a birthday date?" Cassie paused and got real serious. The most serious Sam has ever seen her. "Wellllllllllll," she said dramatically, "I love Jesus, what do you think about Him?" Sam's jaw dropped to the floor. "I love Jesus too!" he said genuinely. All seriousness fell away and Cassie beamed and said, "Well then, yes, we can go on a date!" It's safe to say, the date went very, very well.
