It all began at the University of South Dakota, where our paths first crossed among a circle of mutual friends. During the fall of 2017, Ashley was often leading her friends from one tailgate to another, many of which Sam attended, though neither of us knew quite where our story was headed. Then came February 26, 2018—Ashley’s twenty-first birthday. It was a cold South Dakota night when she invited Sam to join her celebration at the Main Street Pub in Vermillion. Knowing no one there, Sam still decided to come—and that single brave decision changed everything. From that night on, we found ourselves naturally drifting closer together. Just a few months later, in May of 2018, Ashley embarked on a trip to Europe. Even from across the ocean, she found small ways to make Sam part of the journey—sending postcards from each city visited. That simple tradition became something special between us, and to this day, we continue collecting postcards from every place our adventures take us. When we returned to the University that fall, life seemed to fall perfectly into place. After graduation, we both eventually settled in Omaha. Surrounded by our college friends and beginning new chapters in our careers. Then in the winter of 2020, our little family grew with the addition of Jasper. Our lovable and sometimes crazy bernedoodle. The fall of 2021 brought a new adventure, Sam began chiropractic school and Ashley transitioned to travel nursing. Together, we decided to chase our dreams out west and hit the road as full-time RVers—with Jasper happily along for the ride. Our journey first led us to sunny San Diego, where oceanfront walks and endless coastal trails quickly became part of our everyday life. Not long after, Sam’s studies brought us north to Portland, Oregon where our story continued for the next three years. Our time in Portland was filled with new friendships, family visits, and road trips—to the mountains and coastlines. Jasper was spoiled with adventures and countless cozy nights in our camper. We were grateful for every moment spent discovering the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Now, our travels have brought us full circle—back to the Midwest where it all began. We’re overjoyed to be close to our families again and to start this next chapter surrounded by the people we love most. Through every season of our lives, travel has been our greatest adventure—collecting postcards, memories, and moments that remind us how lucky we are to have found one another. As we begin this new journey as husband and wife, we can’t wait to keep exploring the world together. Thank you for helping us celebrate our love and our story.
