Sterling and Samone met in 2016 while working at GM Financial in the Collections Department. Our supervisor moved our seats right across from each other and our love story began to slowly blossom. Sterling was known as “Luther Vandross” on the team because he constantly sang old school tunes throughout the day. Of course, this became of interest to Samone and she began to join him in a daily singing battle. This was the beginning of their unique but genuine friendship. The two became inseparable in a short amount of time. Sterling had to leave for a deployment tour to Africa in 2017 and that is when Samone realized her deep feelings for him. She could not imagine not having her singing partner by her side. Although Sterling was assigned to be gone for 1 year, they promised to talk everyday, write letters, and Facetime as much as possible no matter the time difference. During his tour, the two made it official via Facetime and had their first date virtually. Upon Sterling’s arrival home in 2018, the two spent every moment together creating new memories and traditions. Another year-long deployment moved Sterling away in 2019. This was a test of our love and commitment to each other. During our time apart, Sterling visited Samone once a month and this became a confirmation of his devotion to her. In the summer of 2020, Sterling decided that Samone was the one for him. On December 31, 2020, Sterling asked for Samone’s hand in marriage while on a romantic dinner. In celebration, the two shared a toast and watched the fireworks as they brought in the new year together. This is only the beginning. We can’t wait to see what forever brings!!
