We understand that there will be many family and friends who are unable to attend the wedding due to COVID. We completely understand the concerns and plan on having our ceremony live-streamed right on this site so that those who cannot be there in person can still share in the joy of the day. The health and safety of our loved ones is our primary concern and we want everyone to do what is best for themselves and their families. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE YOUR RSVP: Please do so by 9/7/2020 as our final numbers are due that week. You can do so here on the site or by contacting the bride or groom directly. COVID Precautions: MASKS: Please be aware that our wedding is subject to state and federal regulations and therefore masks must be worn throughout the event. Our FAQ page contains more information about exceptions. SANITIZER: Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the event and we encourage all guests to use it frequently. TABLES: We have limited the number of guests at each table to help reinforce social distancing practices. We also did our best to seat people with their families or close friends where we could.
When they first met, Sammi and Alex didn't quite get along. Alex and his younger sister visited their grandparents every week in Big Lake, where Sammi lived. Derick was friends with the family and brought her and her sister over to meet them all. While the adults talked about life, the kids played in the yard. Long story short, there was an incident with a football, the details of which are still hotly disputed, that left him unimpressed and her in tears. She left hating his guts, but found herself back the next week to see his grandma and sister. It was complete happenstance that he was there, too...
Throughout their long relationship, Alex had a few ideas on the proposal; one of which Sammi ruined without even knowing it! In the end, Alex settled on proposing during the Berkner family vacation in Hawaii. After a family dinner at the infamous Rainbow Drive-In, Sammi and Alex headed back to Waikiki Beach to reserve a spot for the upcoming fireworks show. Five minutes before the fireworks were to start, and Alex's plan was going to be put into action, Sammi, oblivious to what was happening, needed to run to the bathroom! She unwittingly almost ruined Alex's second proposal idea! Thankfully, she made it back on time to witness the start of the gorgeous show! Since the rest of the family knew what was about to happen, they were strategically placed around the couple to capture pictures and video of the proposal! In the midst of the fireworks, while Sammi was busy trying to send SnapChats of the show to her friends, Alex got down on one knee while "Sugar" by Maroon 5 played in the background. "Sammi, I know you've been waiting a long time for this and I'm sorry-" That's as much as Alex could get out before Sammi yelled, "It's about damn time!" Alex finished off with the big question, "Will you marry me?" and there was no other answer but "Yes!"
