Our story began in 2014, tucked away in the corner of a high school art class. We shared a few conversations between paintbrushes and projects, but life had other plans, and we drifted apart. It wasn’t until 2017, during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations at Jamatkhana, that our paths crossed again. Ayman saw Samiah from across courtyard, and something just felt different—like fate had pressed “resume” on a story that was meant to continue. The next day, he got her Snapchat through a mutual friend and started sending her snaps, hoping to spark a connection. At first, Samiah wasn’t having it, rejecting his attempts (twice!)—insisting she wasn’t one for streaks or small talk. But Ayman wasn’t discouraged. Instead, he asked her what her favorite movie and TV shows were, not knowing she was an avid binge watcher. A simple question that opened the door to long conversations, shared laughter, and a bond that deepened with each passing day. Their first date was simple and sweet—a midday escape to Velvet Taco in the rain, followed by dessert and a walk, Sam's favorite activity. That afternoon felt like something out of a movie: honest, simple, and full of possibility. After a few more dates and countless heartfelt conversations, Ayman asked Samiah to be his girlfriend on July 20th—a date that, in true Ayman fashion, also marked Manchester United’s first match on American soil. A perfect mix of history and heart. Nearly eight years later, that quiet spark from art class has grown into something beautiful and enduring. And now, we get to celebrate our wedding on the very day we began this journey together—our eight-year anniversary.
