A pre-wedding custom where the bride and groom's friends and close relatives get together for a celebration of singing, dancing and applying Ubtan (turmeric paste) to the bride and groom. The Maiyoon celebration kicks off the custom of the bride entering into the beautification state where she is made free of all the chores and errands during this time to focus on getting ready for the wedding.
