As much as we (Sam) loves Halloween no costumes are needed. Regular wedding attire is fine!
The ceremony and cocktail hour are both outdoors in a garden area. It is mostly a grassy area so stiletto heels may be a challenge for this part. But the reception is indoors and any shoes will be fine there.
The reception is at the same location as the ceremony! Once you arrive at VASA San Diego you won't need to find another ride. The ceremony is in outdoor garden area and then we'll all walk into the reception hall on the same property.
You are welcome to arrive as early as 4:30pm.
Your presence is a gift enough! Thank you but we are kindly requesting no gifts at the wedding. We will however be observing a cultural tradition and will accept only money envelopes. Otherwise, if you're dying to get us something check out our registry online here!
We have valet parking available! Just pull up to VASA on El Cajon Blvd and they'll take care of the rest! There isn't readily available parking so if you don't want to do valet then we highly recommend taking a shared ride service (Lyft) or taxi to drop you off. Otherwise it's just street parking on El Cajon Blvd or into the residential streets surrounding the venue.
Ceremony will start promptly at 5:00pm.
The reception will start at 6:30pm. But if you can't come for the ceremony, then please join us for cocktail hour right before the reception which starts at 5:30pm!
Dinner will be served starting at approximately 6:50pm
Yes! There are two options for the main course either a chicken dish or birria (a traditional Mexican dish of a meat stew). Please mark your choice when you RSVP.
The dance floor will open at 8:30pm! Till death do us party!
The party will end at 11:00pm - we are required to leave the venue by then so you don't have to go home but you can't stay here!
San Diego weather is wonderful! As of August, the day is looking like a high of 75 degrees, and it will be 63 degrees at night. If you run cold like Sam, then it's always recommended to bring a light sweater in case it's windy during the ceremony. Otherwise we'll be indoors for the entire evening during the reception. If it rains, there can be a canopy option for the ceremony or the whole thing will be moved indoors.
There are plenty of fast food options right down El Cajon Blvd! Though El Cajon can be a little sketchy so stay alert. There's also a Jack in the Box on Upas St and 30th St - tried and true local haven.
Awesome! No promises on our part that we'll be doing any after partying but we support you! Go forth and if you want to enjoy local nearby spots check out bars along University Ave between Texas St and Iowa St. Or if you really want to keep the good times rolling, go party with the 20 year olds in Pacific Beach anywhere on Garnet Ave (about a 15 min drive). Or if you're feeling bougie (like $$$$ status) then head over to the nearby Gaslamp quarter in downtown (9 min drive) - between J St and Broadway, and between 4th and 9th Ave.
Short answer, there's a lot of nice walking spots to let the kiddos run around a bit longer to get tired out! Go a short drive (10-14 mins) to Seaport Village and walk along the Embarcadero which is a pathway along the shore of the San Diego Bay and will take you along the city skyline, you can go all the way around but don't do that, hopefully by the time you get to the Waterfront Park the kids will be tired enough. Or in true San Diegan fashion, go to Mission Bay (15 min drive) and park at Belmont Park, or by the Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach and walk along the Ocean Front Walk. It's another paved pathway to walk along the beach shore. You can even toss those kiddos in the water!
