Sam's perspective: Diego had just flown back into town from Europe and I was looking for something to do. Our mutual friend, Zach, invited us to Rose & Crown to watch soccer. In typical fashion, I arrived very hungry. Diego offered a suggestion for my dinner...the Guac Burger. It was delicious! Through the remainder of the evening we talked, laughed, and drank. The rest is history. Diego's Perspective: I was coming off my cousin’s wedding in France and a trip throughout Europe. I landed in Atlanta and met the friends at a local bar in Smyrna to catch up and watch a soccer game where I met Sam. I recommended a guac burger and we watched the match. Later that evening news broke that Muhammad Ali died and Sam invited me to Kentucky Whisky in memory of one of the greatest. The rest is history.
Sam's Perspective: Thanksgiving 2021 was our first time hosting in our home. We had both sides of the family and friends over for food and fun. Throughout the night Diego would disappear (honestly, I thought he had an upset stomach). But, I didn't think much of it. At one point, Sean decided to make a dangerously delicious shot for all. Within moments, luckily before we were all a bit tipsy, Diego came into the kitchen and yelled for all to shut up and pay attention. He got down on one knee in front some of the closest people in our lives and proposed. I was surprised...yet not. I've known the day was coming, I just didn't know what day. I believe I was so excited I forgot to answer and started to grab the ring! Luckily I remembered I needed to give some sort of verbal acknowledgment and said "yes, of course!". Diego's Perspective: The ring was purchased and the day and setting were the last things left to plan. A dinner on a plane or helicopter ride over Atlanta were the initial ideas and planning was in the works. Then it was Thanksgiving and all our closest friends and family were at the house. I started having doubts of waiting and just doing it now. I went upstairs, placed the ring in my pocket in its case and started back down before noticing I had a huge bulge and my pants and realized I looked ridiculous. I skipped multiple steps back up and took the ring out of the box and placed it back in my pocket. I jogged back down the stairs and told everyone to listen up and dropped on one knee….
