Rule of thumb for tourists: try to avoid public transit. Second rule of thumb: driving is not trivial and there’s always a crazy amount of traffic. If you have any time sensitive reservations, plan accordingly. The good news is that moving around using Uber Comfort or better should be cheap!

Rule of thumb: for most of the bigger museums there should be tour guides and captions in English Also, there’s a ton of museums in Mexico City. Don’t feel like you need to go to all of them. Museo de Antropología (main Anthropology museum) Castillo de Chapultepec (historical palace and museum) Templo Mayor (ruins in the center of the city). The cathedral next to it also has incredible architecture (and it was built on top of the ruins) Frida Kahlo Museo Soumaya (Art) Museo Rufino Tamayo (modern art) Palacio de Bellas Artes (Ópera house) Los Pinos (used to be the Mexican White House until the previous president made it a cultural center)
Mercado de Coyoacán (place to buy Mexican trinckets and stuff, also with traditional food) Centro de Coyoacán (super traditional Mexican plaza with tons of food and bars and bazaars and stuff around). The cathedral next to it has cool architecture Mercado Roma: a hipster market. Good beers at the roof top Trajineras de Xochimilco (boat on a canal) Viveros de Coyoacán (a park with squirrels. Good for a stroll)
